In 1983, before blocking the river to build the dam, the Hòa Bình Hydropower Plant left a letter for the next generation of the year 2100. The letter was carefully written and preserved inside a concrete structure, which is now monumentally displayed in front of the Hòa Bình Hydropower Plant’s Tradition House. Some say it carries the prophecy for the next generation, or simply just a commemoration of a groundbreaking ambition amidst the era of challenges. Thus, even when the beneficial generation of the dam will never get a glimpse of hope from the century-defining project’s forefathers or continue writing theirs, one finds curiosity in the concrete letter-preservation structure, which is deconstructed from its origami forms.
