OLFACTORY ARCHIVES

Initiated by Kiều-Anh Nguyễn in 2023, olfactory archives explore and experiment the possibilities of scent as an alternative method and making accessible archives. Using a multidisciplinary approach, contexts, memories and narratives are replicated and reconstructed into vessels of scentscapes, to study and learn from its interrelation with the landscapes of human and nature across time and space, and further reveal the usually unseen.

it observes the current of happenings, stores the history of being, and breathes with agency & a sense of self.
olfactory archives’ project 1 explores the olfactory profiles of spaces as urban sketches to examine the relationship between spaces and space users - on the history of a space through livelihoods that transacted through, and the interrelationship of a space within a bigger body of neighboring factors and current times.
